    Resumen del artículo

Items and Assemblies turn your Takeoff measurements and counts into very detailed estimate information to help you determine the total cost, labor, and quantity of materials needed for a job.

The Estimate Worksheet makes it easy to incorporate items and assemblies in your estimate workflow by allowing you to add and remove them to Takeoffs directly within the estimate. (No need to go back to the Takeoffs area of the app!)

    What to Know

    • Items and assemblies are added to Takeoffs.
    • You do not need to upload plan sheets or draw measurements in the project to add Items and Assemblies to a Takeoff from the Estimate Worksheet.
    • You can add multiple items and assemblies (from any available Library) to a Takeoff from the Estimate Worksheet.
    • If you added items and assemblies to your Takeoffs in the PLANS & TAKEOFFS section of the project, you can add additional items/assemblies and edit assembly inputs from the Estimate Worksheet.
    • Items and assemblies added to a Takeoff from the Estimate Worksheet will be listed on the Takeoff panel in the PLANS & TAKEOFFS section of the project.
    • You can remove items and assemblies from a Takeoff on the Estimate Worksheet whether they were added in the PLANS & TAKEOFFS section of the project or directly from the Estimate Worksheet.
    • Items and assemblies removed from a Takeoff in the Estimate Worksheet will no longer be listed on the Takeoff panel in the PLANS & TAKEOFFS section of the project.

    See below for instructions to:

Add Items and Assemblies in the Estimate

    1. Make sure your Estimate Worksheet is grouped by Takeoff Name.
      • Click Group By on the estimate toolbar at the top of the estimate.
      • The box next to Takeoff Name should be checked.
(You can group by other categories in addition to Takeoff Name.)
    2. In the Group column of the worksheet, click the + icon to the right of the Takeoff where you want to add items and/or assemblies.
The Add Items & Assemblies dialog box will open.
    3. Click in the Library dropdown and select the library that contains the items and/or assemblies you want to add.
    4. Click the ITEMS or ASSEMBLIES tab depending on which you want to add to the takeoff.
TIP: You can click back and forth to add items and assemblies from the same library.
    5. Use Search or click on folders for expanded list view to locate the items or assemblies you want to add.
    6. Click the green + button next to each item or assembly that you want to add.
    7. If needed, repeat steps 3-6 to add additional items and/or assemblies from other libraries.
    8. Click the green Add button to add the selected items and assemblies to the Takeoff.

If you've only added one Assembly that requires Inputs (Item Groups and Variables), the Edit Assembly Inputs dialog will automatically open for you to select/enter the necessary input data (see steps 3-6 below for instructions to enter the inputs). However, if you've added multiple Assemblies that require Inputs (Item Groups and Variables), you'll need to follow the Edit Assembly Inputs instructions below to select/enter the necessary input data for each Assembly.

If you've added Assemblies that don't have any Required Items, you'll see a red ! warning at the top of the Estimate Worksheet alerting you that there are Assemblies that don't have any items associated with them. Click the warning to see a list of those assemblies.

Edit Assembly Inputs in the Estimate

You don't have to go back to the PLANS & TAKEOFFS section of the project to change Assembly Inputs like Item Groups and Custom Variables, you can do this directly from the Estimate Worksheet.

TIP: It's helpful to Group By Assembly before editing Assembly Inputs so you can see which line items will be affected by the changes you make.

    1. Right click on any line item cell associated with the Assembly for which you want to edit inputs.
    2. Select Edit Assembly Inputs.
A dialog box will open for you to make your input selections.
    3. Click in each Item Groups field and select the desired item from the dropdown list.
    4. Click in each Variables field and type in the appropriate number.
    5. Click the Test button to make sure you have entered acceptable information in the fields to help avoid errors on your estimate.
NOTE: You will receive a warning if your Variables will cause an error. Correct your inputs before proceeding.
    6. Click Save.

Based on the changes you make, information like Item Name, Rate, and Purchase Quantity will automatically update on the Estimate Worksheet for all the line items that are part of that assembly.

NOTE: The changes you make to Assembly Inputs are not confined to the specific Estimate Worksheet where they're made. Changes impact the entire project and are reflected on the Takeoff Settings panel in the PLANS & TAKEOFFS section of the project and on other Estimates in the project.
