Symbol Counting AI is an innovative tool STACK is developing to help save you time by automatically finding and counting symbols on a plan sheet using AI.
This tool is currently only available for use on electrical plan sheets to find specific electrical symbols. It will create a takeoff and provide counts for the symbols you choose from a predetermined list of symbols.
NOTE: Symbol Counting AI is an experimental feature and may change at any time, use at your own risk.
What to Know:
- Only one plan sheet is counted at a time - you must use the tool on each plan sheet for which you want counts.
- Counts are only returned if there is a 50% or greater confidence level that the symbol is a match.
- When the Symbol Counting AI tool creates a takeoff, the scale will not be set since only counts are returned.
- Symbol Counting AI must be activated in the Labs section of Account Settings before it can be used in your account. See Activate Experimental Features for instructions.
See below for instructions to:
Use Symbol Counting AI
Use Symbol Counting AI
- Open the electrical plan page on which you want to take counts. (Plan page name will start with the letter "E".)
- Click Suggest on the Measuring Toolbar.
If Suggest is not visible on the Measuring Toolbar, you will need to activate the Symbol Counting AI feature in in the Labs section of Account Settings. See Activate Experimental Features for instructions. - Check the box next to the symbol(s) you want to find and count.
- Click the Run box.
You will receive messages in My Notifications (bell icon on top navigation toolbar) to let you know that the Inference is running and when it is complete. Once complete, takeoffs for the symbols you selected with the symbol counts and all of the counted symbols will be marked* on the plan sheet.
*If you do not see the symbols marked on the plan sheet, simply refresh the page and they should appear. - Review the counts to make sure they are accurate.
How did we do?
After each run, you’ll get a feedback box to let us know how we did. This will help us improve the accuracy and functionality of the tool.
- Click the thumbs up or thumbs down icon.
- Type in your reaction on what worked well, or not so well (as well as what you’d like to see next).
