Below are the minimum and recommended system requirements to run STACK and project size guidelines for optimal STACK performance.
Internet Browsers
We recommend using the latest version of these web browsers for the best STACK experience:
Google Chrome - Download Here
Mozilla Firefox - Download Here
Safari - Apple - Download Here
*STACK will run in other browsers; however, we no longer support Internet Explorer.
NOTE: Clearing your browser cache on a regular basis will help ensure optimal STACK performance.
Operating Systems
Windows 7, 8, 10 or 11
Mac OS X
Linux
Processor & Memory
i5 processor with 8 GB of RAM or better
*As a general rule, STACK will run best on devices less than 4 years old.
Internet Connection Speeds
Recommended speeds: Download ≥ 20 Mbps, Upload ≥ 5 Mbps
Minimum speeds: Download ≥ 15 Mbps, Upload ≥ 3 Mbps
*You can check your internet connection speeds for free at www.speedtest.net.
Additional Software
To use STACK’s Excel tools, you will need a supported version of Microsoft Excel:
- Report Sync Add-In supports Excel 2016 or greater
- Project Cost Calculator supports Excel 2010 or greater
Hardware
For precise control, use an external mouse with your device (PC, laptop, tablet, iPad). Drawing with the built-in track pad of a device, your finger, a stylus, or Apple Pencil will not produce consistent results and is not advisable.
Any mouse* or keyboard/mouse combination will work with STACK.
*If you have an Apple Magic Mouse, we recommend adjusting to a lower scroll speed. Click here for instructions.
Project Size Guidelines
For optimal performance, keep the size of each project in STACK within these guidelines:
- Plan pages
Up to 500 per project is optimal; performance degrades at 5,000+ - Takeoff templates
Up to 100 per project is optimal; performance degrades at 300+ - Measurements
Up to 1,000 per project is optimal; performance degrades at 5,000+
Larger projects will run slower on the average device. We recommend splitting project documents into two separate projects if you reach the thresholds listed above.
